God Is My Safety Net Psalms 91
What do you think of when you hear the word safety? Most people, like my husband when asked, would say “safe”. Not funny! I decided to look up some synonyms of safety. Words such as freedom, security, cover, defense, immunity, refuge sanctuary, protection, and shelter came up. When I think of God, all of these words fit. By definition, safety is the condition of being protected from or unlikely to cause danger, risk, or injury.
God is my safety! He literally has shielded me from so many things that could’ve taken me out. He has wrapped me in bubble wrap to keep me from breaking against the forces of the world! God is just that good! Can you imagine that for just a moment? Holy Spirit wrapped himself around you over and over again that a barrier is created that nothing can come in! Not even a knife can penetrate through.
I was in a car accident back in 2007 I believe it was. The kids and I were on our way to church that morning, and all of a sudden things went black. I knew I had my phone in my hand and I remember putting on the seat beside me...and then NOTHING. I ended up in somebody’s yard flipped upside down in a tree. I want you to hear me….this morning I was rushing and didn’t strap Tyler’s car seat in. He was upside down still strapped in his seat, but he had hit his head on Harmony’s car seat. I was able to get them both out of their seats. The owner of the house came rushing out to our aid. He called 911 and my mom who was at the church. When I tell you GOD IS MY SAFETY NET… that’s exactly what I mean!!!
That accident could’ve ended up in death. If either of my children had died in that accident, I don’t know how I would’ve made it to today. It would’ve been my fault!
GOD IS MY SAFETY NET!!!
I could go on and on about how God has kept me from dangers seen and unseen; but I’ll just share that story! To this day, I had never fully shared the whole story of that accident, so please understand that this is ALL GOD! This would’ve been something that I took to my grave, just because I spent years beating myself up about it!
BUT GOD IS MY SAFETY NET!!
God kept me through years of a toxic marriage. He kept me through surgeries. He’s kept me through so much!
When you find refuge in God and not in man, He will shield you! There is nothing that we have to fear!
Psalm 91 tells us to rest in the safety and protection of God. When we are connected to God he will give us the strength and the power to get through anything that the enemy tries to throw up against us. Verse 13 says that you will even be able to crush lions and serpents under your feet. Now tell me that’s not GOD!
Verses 14-16 tells us what we need to do in order for God to protect us. We have to trust Him. When we call on Him, He will answer. HE will reward us for our faithfulness to Him.
God is my safety net! The shelter in the time of the storm! He said He will cover us with his feathers and shelter us with His wings. Feathers are light and airy. Can you just sit and imagine how it would feel with feathers covering us and His wings covering us! Just like a mother bird protecting her babies in the nest, hovering over them protecting them from being eaten by the enemy.
Rest in knowing that you can have complete safety in God!
GOD IS MY SAFETY NET!
His net won’t break!!
